For 1999-2006 models S&S offers just two grinds, for mild performance upgrades. For hotter grinds gear drives are recommended since the stock 1999-2006 chain drive system is not suited for demanding applications.
For 2006-2017 models Harley improved the chain drive with new hydraulic chain tensioners. This system is more suitable for high performance applications.
Application Recommendations:
Bolt-in 88 to 103" engines with compression ratios between 9.7:1 to 10.5:1 and 106" to 124" engines with 9:1 to 10:1 CR. Provides massive horsepower and torque from 3000 RPM. 1500-5000 RPM range.
NOTE: Owners of 1999 Twin Cams must separately purchase the splined 2000-2006 style driven gear (ARM575305 Andrews Check Related Tab!). 2000-2006 models can re-use stock 34 tooth driven gear.
